Adilabad: District SP Akhil Mahajan said that the accused who stole ventilators from RIMS Hospital in the same day, which created a sensation in the district, have been arrested. The details of the theft were disclosed in a media conference organized at the conference hall of the police headquarters on Saturday.

District SP Akhil Mahajan said the police have arrested an inter-state gang that stole ventilators for providing emergency treatment to patients in Adilabad’s Rims Hospital and recovered the stolen ventilators along with other medical equipment.
On the 30th of last month, two persons named Sajjan Basan Mothe and Abhijit from Chandrapur, Maharashtra entered Adilabad Rims Hospital as technicians. As a way of endangering the lives of the patients while they were being treated, four working Mind Ray brand ventilators were stolen and transported to Maharashtra for providing emergency treatment to the patients in RICU and SAARI wards on the second floor of the hospital.
Later, Hyderabad-based medical equipment sales and service businessman Konda Reddy was approached to sell the stolen medical equipment. Kondal Reddy, who knowingly agreed to buy the stolen goods, came to Chandrapur to buy them. While going to Hyderabad with medical equipment in the car, police are conducting vehicle checks near Adilabad RTO office. On noticing the police, the accused tried to run away, but the police alerted them and arrested them.
During the investigation, the accused revealed that they had previously stolen medical equipment from the Nagbhid and Vani government hospitals at Chandrapur in Maharashtra and also from the Nizamabad government hospital. Investigation revealed that they sold the stolen medical equipment to Konda Reddy of Hyderabad. Police recovered from the accused four ventilators stolen from Rims Hospital, one ventilator stolen from Nizamabad Hospital, one NST machine, fetal monitor stolen from Maharashtra Vani Hospital, diatherapy machine stolen from Chandrapur Nagbhid Hospital along with cash, Rs 1 lakh cash, cell phones, a bike and a car.
