Amit Shah offers prayers at Bhagyalakshmi Temple, leads BJP padyatra in Hyderabad

Union Home Minister Amit Shah offered prayers at the Bhagyalakshmi Temple near Charminar on Monday before leading the BJP’s “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy” Maha Padyatra through central Hyderabad.

Shah arrived at Begumpet Airport, where he was received by Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao and other party leaders. He later visited the temple with Kishan Reddy and Rao, performed special puja and offered prayers for the people’s well-being and prosperity.

The padyatra began at the Babu Jagjivan Ram statue in Basheerbagh, opposite Nizam College, and proceeded towards Moazzam Jahi Market, where Shah was scheduled to address a public meeting. Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Rao and BJP leaders and workers joined the march. Security arrangements were made along the route.

The march is part of the BJP’s campaign against the INDIA bloc’s criticism of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. It follows the Opposition’s “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” rally in Delhi on November 1.

The BJP said the march was intended to defend democratic institutions, including the Election Commission, and counter what it described as attempts to create anarchy. Rao criticised the Congress and INDIA bloc, saying the country would be governed by the Constitution and the people’s mandate, not “riot-mongering politics.”

The march brought the national debate over electoral rolls and democratic institutions to Congress-ruled Telangana.

Amit Shah shared a post on social media, “Profoundly fortunate to have offered Puja at Bhagyalakshmi Temple in Hyderabad. Prayed to Lakshmi Maa for the well-being and continued prosperity of the citizens.”
