MUMBAI, October 28: Jio Platforms Limited made a strong debut on the stock exchanges on Wednesday, listing at ₹1,358 per share on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE, a premium of 21.36% over its initial public offering (IPO) price of ₹1,119. The listing followed India’s largest-ever public issue, which raised ₹30,213 crore.
The listing valued the digital and telecom services arm of Reliance Industries Limited at approximately ₹12.5 lakh crore, making it India’s second-most valuable listed company after its parent. The debut marked a significant milestone for Reliance Industries, which retains a majority stake in Jio Platforms.
The IPO attracted strong investor demand, with the issue subscribed 22.19 times. It was fully subscribed within about 100 minutes of opening on October 21, while the total number of applications approached 1.39 crore, reflecting broad interest in the company’s public offering.
At the listing ceremony, members of the Ambani family, including Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Nita Ambani, Akash Ambani and Isha Ambani, were present. Akash Ambani, managing director of Jio Platforms, expressed gratitude to investors and supporters, describing the listing as the beginning of the company’s next phase of growth.
Jio Platforms has grown into a major player in India’s telecommunications and digital services sectors, serving more than 530 million subscribers through its telecom business. Global technology companies Meta and Google are among its significant investors, reflecting the strategic importance of its digital ecosystem.
The proceeds from the IPO are intended primarily to repay borrowings at its telecom subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm, and to meet general corporate purposes. The listing gives public-market investors a direct stake in a business that has become central to Reliance Industries’ telecommunications and digital operations.
Jio Platforms’ debut adds another major company to India’s listed corporate landscape, following an IPO that drew substantial demand from institutional and individual investors.
