Thirupathi Botla – Medchal Malkajgiri Bureau: Demanding an immediate permanent resolution and the shifting of the hazardous Jawahar Nagar dumping yard, Malkajgiri Member of Parliament Eatala Rajender launched the four-day ‘Jawahar Nagar Jana Sankalpa Yatra’ from Edulabad in Ghatkesar mandal on Tuesday.

Prior to the march, Eatala offered special prayers at the historic Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple, where priests extended a traditional Poornakumbham welcome. Later, addressing a massive public gathering alongside BJP leader N. Ramchander Rao, Eatala criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for neglecting the issue despite previously litigating against the dump yard before the NGT and Supreme Court when representing the constituency.

Eatala highlighted the severe public health disaster across surrounding habitations, citing frequent deaths from cancer—including the recent demise of a local resident named Susheela and a 25-year-old youth—alongside widespread miscarriages, chronic respiratory illnesses, skin infections, and the destruction of fisheries and agriculture due to toxic groundwater. He noted having raised the issue in Parliament and with Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, affirming that the Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is willing to assist if the State prepares a ₹2,000 to ₹3,000 crore Detailed Project Report (DPR). He urged the adoption of advanced technologies to produce bitumen from plastic, electricity from dry waste, and organic manure from wet waste. The padayatra will culminate in a massive rally at Balaji Nagar.
