A Former Soldier’s Feat

Karvanga Krishnaiah Earns the ‘Ironman’ Title

Wanaparthy: Proving that age is merely a number, Karvanga Krishnaiah—a former soldier and current Reserve Bank employee, hailing from Nagpur village in Revalli mandal, Wanaparthy district—has achieved a remarkable feat. At the age of 50, he successfully completed the grueling ‘Ironman 70.3’ event held in Goa, creating quite a stir. He earned the title by completing three demanding segments within the stipulated time: a 1.9 km swim in the sea, a 90 km cycling leg, and a 21.1 km run. Krishnaiah has demonstrated exceptional talent in the past as well; under the aegis of Audax India, he completed a series of BRM cycling events (covering 200, 300, 400, and 600 km)—which are typically meant to be finished over the course of a year—in just one month, earning the international ‘Super Randonneur’ title. Despite having no prior background in such intense physical activities, Krishnaiah has achieved these significant milestones through sheer determination, serving as an inspiration to many. Locals and sports enthusiasts are commending his achievement and urging the government to recognize and support such athletes.
