The Telangana Civil Supplies Department has announced maximum retail prices (MRPs) for three popular varieties of rice, directing retailers to adhere to the prescribed rates and warning consumers against paying more.
According to an announcement issued by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies, the prices per kg are:
- BPT / KNM: ₹66
- RNR / Telangana Sona: ₹74
- HMT / JSR: ₹79
The official poster also refers to these rates in the context of 26-kg rice packs.
The department has advised consumers to check the variety and prescribed MRP before purchasing rice. It has urged them to report instances of overcharging to the nearest Civil Supplies authorities or through designated complaint channels.
The department said the measure was aimed at ensuring fair pricing of essential commodities and protecting consumer interests.
