Cyberabad CP Dr. M. Ramesh Invokes PD Act Against Habitual Interstate Drug Peddler

Cyberabad: Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh has invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against habitual interstate drug peddler Sachin Gangaram Maruti Chavan (36), with the objective of preventing him from continuing illegal drug-related activities.

According to CP Dr. M. Ramesh, Sachin, a native of Solapur district in Maharashtra, has been involved in drug-peddling activities with the intention of earning easy money. He procures large quantities of ganja from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha, transports it to various locations and supplies it to his associates and drug consumers at exorbitant prices for unlawful financial gain.

The CP stated that Sachin was involved in five drug-peddling cases registered between 2020 and 2026, of which three were registered in Telangana, one in Maharashtra and another in Karnataka. His activities indicate an interstate network involved in the procurement, transportation and distribution of ganja, with links extending across Telangana and other states, including areas under the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate.

Considering his repeated involvement in drug-peddling offences and the threat his activities pose to public health and public order, CP Dr. M. Ramesh invoked the provisions of the PD Act and ordered his preventive detention. Accordingly, Sachin was detained through Patancheru Police Station and lodged at Central Prison, Cherlapally, in Medchal district.

The CP reiterated the commitment of Cyberabad Police to taking stringent action against habitual drug offenders and curbing the menace of narcotic substances.
