Telangana Cabinet clears ₹5-lakh family insurance scheme, separate SC and ST commissions

The Telangana Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, on Thursday approved a ₹5-lakh family life insurance scheme, separate commissions for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and amendments to fire-safety and land-notice procedures.

Under the Indiramma Family Life Insurance Scheme, every family in the state will be covered for ₹5 lakh. The scheme is scheduled to be launched in Siddipet on November 19, with door-to-door application collection planned from November 20 to 30.

The Cabinet also decided to begin distributing Indiramma sarees on November 19. Ministers, MLAs and other public representatives will celebrate Diwali with beneficiaries in the 2.25 lakh completed Indiramma houses under the programme “Maa Indiramma Intlo Deepavali”.

The existing joint SC/ST Commission will be replaced by two separate bodies, each comprising a chairperson and five members.

The Cabinet approved amendments to the Telangana Fire Services Act to strengthen fire-safety standards and enforcement in houses, apartments and commercial buildings. It also reduced the period for filing appeals against land survey and boundary notices from 60 days to 30 days.

A total of 136 posts were approved for six courts in Kataram, Elkathurthy, Siddipet, Choutuppal, Mahabubabad and Vemulawada.

The Chief Minister is scheduled to visit Kodangal from November 7 to 9, with a farmers’ meeting planned for November 9. Further operational guidelines and notifications will be issued by the concerned departments.
