HYDERABAD: BRS MLA and Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao has urged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to intervene and postpone the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE – Civil/Roads and Buildings) examination scheduled for November 6, citing a clash with the Staff Selection Commission’s (SSC) Junior Engineer (JE) examination.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister and made public on Saturday, Harish Rao said the SSC JE examination was scheduled from November 2 to 6, creating a direct clash with the TGPSC AEE examination on the final day. He said the overlap would force thousands of engineering graduates, particularly civil engineering aspirants, to choose between two competitive examinations despite months of preparation for state and central government jobs.
Harish Rao pointed out that candidates appearing for the SSC JE examination at centres outside Telangana could find it difficult to return to the State in time to take the TGPSC examination on the same day. He said several aspirants and unemployed youth had repeatedly appealed to TGPSC to reschedule the examination.*Minister’s request yet to yield result*The BRS leader noted that Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had also written to TGPSC on October 14, requesting a review of the examination dates. However, according to Harish Rao, the issue remained unresolved.Questioning the delay, he cited Odisha and Bihar as examples of States that had revised examination schedules in similar circumstances. He urged the Telangana government to consider the difficulties faced by candidates and ensure that they were not denied an opportunity to compete for both posts because of a scheduling conflict.Harish Rao said the aspirants were not seeking cancellation of recruitment but only a change in the examination date to enable them to appear for both tests. He appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene immediately, stating that administrative decisions should not adversely affect the career prospects of unemployed engineering graduates.*Call for better coordination*The BRS leader also called on the State government and TGPSC to establish better coordination mechanisms while finalising examination calendars. He said such coordination was necessary to avoid clashes between State and central recruitment examinations and to ensure that candidates could compete for available opportunities without facing preventable scheduling difficulties. The TGPSC AEE examination is scheduled for November 6, the same day the SSC JE examination is due to conclude. Any change to the State examination schedule would depend on a decision by the competent authority.
