- Municipal Staff Forced to Rehang Banners Following Pressure from Local Influential Figure
- Residents Demand Departmental Probe by CMC Commissioner Against Complicit Officials
MEDCHAL–MALKAJGIRI: : In a bizarre turn of events that sparked public fury across Pragathi Nagar in Nizampet Circle, municipal officials tasked with curbing illegal outdoor advertising allegedly deployed their own field workforce to re-erect unauthorized flex banners they had previously dismantled.
The issue began when local residents lodged formal complaints through the municipal ‘My-Care’ grievance redressal app, seeking the removal of illegal banners encroaching on public spaces. Acting on the grievance, field staff initially cleared the displays. However, an influential local figure reportedly mounted heavy pressure on civic authorities, issuing a stern diktat demanding that the civic body reinstall the banners at the exact same location. Succumbing to the pressure and ignoring civic regulations, officials directed municipal personnel to put the banners back up.
Residents strongly condemned the administration’s dual standards, pointing out that long-outdated Vinayaka Chavithi banners were left untouched while selective removal was enforced elsewhere. Allegations of kickbacks and collusion have surfaced, with concerned field officers, including Sanitation Inspector Nithin Kumar and Assistant Engineer (AE) Sharan Teja, remaining unavailable for clarification.
Taxpayers and civic welfare groups urged Nizampet Deputy Commissioner Md. Saber Ali, Quthbullapur Zonal Commissioner Parmar Pinkeshkumar Lalitkumar, and Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner G. Srijana to initiate an immediate departmental inquiry and take stern punitive action against the complicit personnel.
