Civil engineers gain practical insights into tower cranes, hoists and specialised equipment used in infrastructure projects
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Centre of the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) (ACCE(I)) organised an industrial visit to the manufacturing facilities of ConMechAuto Consultants India Pvt. Ltd. (CMAC) at Chandanvelly near Shamshabad and Cherlapally on Saturday, providing members with practical insights into equipment used for the vertical and horizontal transportation of people and materials in construction and infrastructure projects.
The visit brought together structural engineers, design consultants, valuers, retired government engineers and professionals from the private sector. Participants were introduced to the design, manufacturing processes, technical specifications and applications of specialised equipment, including tower cranes, passenger and material hoists, industrial lifts and mast systems.
The programme began with a presentation on CMAC’s specialised products by Siva Prasad at its Chandanvelly facility, followed by live demonstrations of tower cranes, scissor lifts, tower crane masts and passenger and material hoist masts. The delegation later visited various sections of the company’s Cherlapally manufacturing facility to observe its production processes.
Er. Bheem Rao Jaligama, chairman of ACCE(I) Hyderabad Centre, said the visit offered members an opportunity to understand industrial manufacturing processes firsthand.
“We have seen the factory and its manufacturing operations, including equipment for vertical and horizontal transportation and industrial cranes. Our structural engineers joined the visit, and it has been a very good learning experience,” he said.
Er. Jayaprakash, design consultant at Primo Designs, described the programme as an important learning opportunity, particularly in understanding vertical and horizontal transportation systems. He said the visit offered valuable exposure to the manufacturing capabilities of the industry.
Participants also highlighted the importance of understanding equipment capacities, design customisation, foundation requirements and production methods for their professional work. Several members thanked ACCE(I) Hyderabad Centre and the CMAC team for the technical explanations and demonstrations.
Jyotsna Cheruvu, co-founder and director of CMAC India Pvt. Ltd. and national vice-president of the Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs India, said hosting the delegation was an opportunity to showcase the company’s infrastructure and hoist manufacturing capabilities to experienced engineering professionals.
She described the interaction as a two-way learning experience, emphasising the importance of continuous professional development. She also appreciated the company’s technical team for engaging with visitors and responding to their queries.
CMAC India, an ISO 9001:2015-certified company headquartered in Hyderabad, manufactures passenger and material hoists, curved hoists, suspended rope platforms, multi-functional hoists, goods lifts, tower cranes and related vertical transportation equipment for infrastructure and construction projects.
The industrial visit was part of ACCE(I) Hyderabad Centre’s continuing efforts to promote technical knowledge-sharing, professional development and interaction between consulting civil engineers and the manufacturing sector.
Established in 1985, ACCE(I) is a national professional body representing consulting civil engineers. The organisation has around 10,000 members and more than 50 centres across India.
