Dr. T. Sravanthi Reddy, Consultant Radiation Oncologist, Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad
Wanaparthy: Dr. T. Sravanthi Reddy, Consultant Radiation Oncologist at the Secunderabad branch of Yashoda Hospitals, stated that a wide range of advanced treatment modalities is now available for cancer patients. She emphasized that treatment is not “one-size-fits-all”; rather, it is tailored to the specific condition of each individual.
She explained that the primary objectives of treatment are to effectively control or reduce the cancer, enhance the patient’s quality of life, and minimize side effects. The approach focuses on reducing side effects without compromising the necessary therapeutic intervention. She noted that the hospital utilizes highly advanced, state-of-the-art radiation technology, which has recently been upgraded to offer even greater advantages. Describing the specifics of radiation therapy, she highlighted that the treatment precisely targets only the cancerous area, ensuring minimal damage to the surrounding healthy tissue. Furthermore, the treatment is delivered with high precision, positioning errors are significantly reduced, and the treatment systems themselves have become far more sophisticated. It was explained that treatment plans can be adjusted based on changes occurring in a patient’s body—a process known as “Adaptive Radiotherapy.” Furthermore, a fast imaging technique that completes a scan in a single breath helps reduce treatment time, thereby increasing patient comfort. Dr. Sravanthi Reddy noted that the treatment approach varies for each patient and should be followed strictly according to medical advice; she added that modern radiation therapy offers a greater chance of achieving positive outcomes. G. Tirupati Reddy and Ch. Satish, members of the marketing team from the Secunderabad branch of Yashoda Hospitals, participated in this event.
