Vigilance Raids on Lakshmi Narasimha Rice Mill
Wanaparthy: Vigilance officials have reported the discovery of major discrepancies in the stocks of paddy belonging to the Civil Supplies Department at the Lakshmi Narasimha Rice Mill, located in Buddharam village, Gopalpeta mandal, Wanaparthy district. Preliminary findings indicate a shortage of approximately 14,900 bags of paddy, with an estimated market value exceeding Rs. 1.59 crore. Acting on credible information, a team led by DSP Venkatesham—from the Enforcement, Transport, and Vigilance wing based in Hyderabad—conducted a surprise inspection of the mill on Friday. The inspection, which lasted nearly six hours, was carried out in the presence of the mill owner, Maram Madhukar, and involved a thorough review of the existing stocks and official records. Following the inspection, evidence was collected and documented in a formal report (panchanama) in the presence of staff from the Tahsildar’s office. It is understood that a case has been registered regarding the discrepancies in the paddy stocks. Officials have warned that if it is proven that government-owned paddy has been diverted, strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.
