Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender convened a preparatory meeting alongside BJLP leader Maheshwar Reddy at Dammaiguda on Friday, stepping up protests demanding the immediate relocation of the Jawahar Nagar dump yard.
Addressing the gathering, Rajender highlighted that the yard—ranked fourth globally in toxic methane emissions—releases methane equivalent to the emissions of 1.2 million cars, severely elevating Hyderabad’s temperatures and causing miscarriages, respiratory ailments, and cancer across a 30-km radius. He criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for neglecting the area despite previously representing it as an MP, and condemned the diversion of Ramky’s CSR funds to Andhra Pradesh. Urging the adoption of indigenous solutions like those proposed by IAS officer Narahari, Rajender announced an environmental round-table on October 25 and a massive Padayatra on October 27, warning of a total shutdown (Sakala Janula Samme) if demands remain unaddressed.
